Editorial: A commitment to peer review transparency

In an editorial published alongside Volume 11, Issue 4, the Materia editorial board has committed to publishing annual peer review metrics beginning in 2026. The data will include submission-to-decision times (median and interquartile range), acceptance rates by article type, reviewer invitation-to-acceptance ratios, and geographic distribution of authors and reviewers. "Transparency is not a threat to editorial quality," the editorial states. "It is the foundation of trust between a journal and the communities it serves."
