Materia introduces Open Data and Open Materials badges

Following a six-month pilot, Materia now awards Open Data and Open Materials badges to articles that meet the journal's transparency criteria. The Open Data badge requires deposition of all data underlying the article's conclusions in a FAIR-aligned public repository with a persistent identifier. The Open Materials badge requires the same for any novel materials, reagents, or specimens described in the article. During the pilot, 62% of published articles qualified for at least one badge.
